Gaps
The works in the “Gaps” series are constructed from threads torn from textile items such as sheets, bedspreads and curtains from donations or discards from other people and mine, woven on a nail loom. This research guides much of my work, which involves finding clothes, fabrics and various materials and subjecting them to a process of deconstruction, tearing and cutting until everything becomes threads. After that, sometimes the yarns are dyed before starting the weaving process. Weaving is an investigation that takes place as a form of ritualistic practice, of reinventing matter and oneself and a way of encountering ancestry.
